SILENT SENTINEL

NexOS object classification

This project began as a simple video for Silent Sentinel’s NexOS feature “Object Classification,” but evolved into a 3D showcase for their popular long-range camera, the Jaeger Ranger, which captured the NexOS footage.

My role included directing, consulting with the commercial manager, editing footage, and creating an engaging sequence for their YouTube channel. Some challenges involved creating realistic materials for the lens and camera bodies.

Video Editing

Silent Sentinel has always found it challenging to capture footage of their cameras. Outdoor setups increased costs, while indoor recording was hindered by space constraints and disruptions. To address this, the commercial manager and I explored the world of 3D modeling, ultimately finding a way to convert their CAD models into usable meshes for Blender.

From CAD to Blender 3.0

The first step of this project was finding a way to convert the supplied CAD model to an editable Blender OBJ. This wasn’t as straightforward as expected because CAD uses NURBS, which traditional methods of conversion struggle with.
